Will these 17" wheels fit my 2023 CX-30 GT Sport?

I've got a 2023 CX-30 GT Sport, and I'm currently using the standard 215/55 R18 tires on my 18x7J ET45 wheels.

Recently, a friend of mine scrapped his old car and offered me his 17" wheels, which come with 225/55 R17 tires on 17x7.5J ET50. I'm thinking about using those for a winter setup, but I haven't really seen anyone else using this specific size on a CX-30.

I'm drawn to the idea of a slightly more comfortable ride due to the taller sidewalls, and since the rolling diameter difference is around 2%, the speedometer should remain accurate.

Has anyone tried a setup like this? Have you run into any rubbing issues or anything I should keep in mind? I'd really appreciate any insights or experiences you can share!

Not sure about the mazda, but I've made some tire upgrades in my life, so here's my opinion. The difference in diameter isn't big enough to cause a problem. Sure, it's not 100% identical, but the difference is small and probably won't cause too much problems. I'd be more concerned about the offset. You'll need to make sure it clears everything

I have no direct experience with a similar situation but your logic about the taller sidewall for comfort and minimal speedometer impact seems sound. The 0.5J wider wheel isn't a huge difference, and the ET50 offset compared to your stock ET45 will pull the wheel in slightly, which should help with fender clearance.

However, the wider 225 tire is a bit of a trade-off. I'd highly recommend a test fit to see how they clear, specifically checking lock-to-lock in the front and any potential interference with suspension components or the fender liner. You still have enough time to prepare for a winter setup, and a test fit will definitely give you peace of mind!
